For nearly 10 years Media Talk 101 has been sharing the message of media discernment in the light of following Christ.  From seminars to the Captivated DVD to the Christian Worldview Film Festival, the Lord has entrusted this ministry with several platforms to encourage the body of Christ to pursue righteousness in every aspect of their lives.  In this episode, Phillip and Rhett share some thoughts about the 2015 Christian Worldview Film Festival and announce another avenue that the Lord has given to continue to teach a Biblical approach to media discernment.

Phillip and Rhett talk about some concerns to keep in mind when it comes to technology, our relationships, and what habits we are passing on to the next generation.

There is no way to passively escape the battle that is waging for your heart and soul, yet many Christians are satisfied to stay out of the fight in order to preserve their dream world of self-preservation.  Phillip Telfer discusses how a field gone fallow grows only weeds and how Christ’s sufferings are an example to us as we endure to the end.

Popular movies, TV shows, magazines, and books portray their view of what it means to be happy, but what does God’s word have to say about it?  Is it possible to be happy at all in the midst of a broken world that is continually grasping for an unattainable fantasy life?  Phillip Telfer explains as Act 4 continues.

We live in a culture that accentuates personal fulfillment and a “believe in yourself” mentality at the cost of understanding the real drama we are living in. There is a driving pursuit of the “happily ever after” instead of the pursuit of God and an ambition like the apostle Paul’s to “…know Him and the power of His resurrection and the fellowship of His sufferings, being conformed to His death.” (Philippians 3:10)  In this series, Phillip Telfer compares timeless dramatic storytelling to God’s story that He has revealed in His word.  Find out which of the dramatic acts we are living in and what role God has cast you in.

Thanksgiving is a time to gather as a family to give thanks to the Lord for the many blessings that He gives.  In many homes that is not the focus of the day if it is even mentioned at all.  Phillip Telfer encourages us to acknowledge God and His faithfulness and avoid the distractions of media as we gather as families.

When teen boredom leads to senseless acts of murder and an anticipation of grotesque displays of godlessness in the music industry, what are we to do?  Phillip Telfer discusses the heart of the problem and offers the solution by teaching biblical truth about Jesus’ adolescent years.
