Obstacles in Your Way?

“Let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which so easily ensnares us, and let us run with endurance the race that is set before us.” Hebrews 12:1

No doubt, misuse, overuse, or compulsive use of today’s media, entertainment, and technologies are potential obstacles that may hold people back from running the race with endurance.

DIFFICULT TO BE CONSISTENT?

Have you found it difficult to be consistent with reading your Bible? How about spending time in prayer?

How about being exhausted on Sunday morning and unenthusiastic about going to church because you stayed up late on Saturday night gaming or binging on shows?

Have you noticed that the more time you spend consuming entertainment, the less interested you are in the spiritual matters of life?

TIRED AND GRUMPY?

Are you simply tired and grumpy all the time because you don’t get enough sleep, or you can’t get to sleep because your mind has been amped up with so much digital stimulation that you have a hard time resting?

Do you find yourself getting irritable and defensive anytime someone mentions that you are on your phone too much or in front of your computer too much?

RUN TO WIN

Hopefully you’ll begin to realize that these issues pose real problems when you consider running the race to win.

Our focus must begin with a growing relationship with Him. When your goal and focus is Jesus, you don’t need a rule that says, “Thou shalt not run a race with a backpack full of rocks.” If you are running the race to win, it will be apparent that anything holding you back from that goal needs to be laid aside.
